In January 2002, I arrived in Managua, Nicaragua to serve as a Peace Corps volunteer and my life would never be the same. Nicaragua and its people broke my heart wide open and changed me in ways I couldn't have imagined. My worldview was challenged. I learned about how my county's decisions impacted the lives of Nicaraguans. I struggled with the reality of US policies and the long-term effects on communities in Central America.  I also learned the importance of listening and building relationships.   

Almost 23 years later, I am still collaborating with Nicaraguans to support them to meet the goals they have set for themselves and their communities. I hope you will join me in this opportunity to fund essential projects and programs. Your gift will send young people to college and university, help single mothers start chicken farms, bring clean affordable water to over 2000 people in Apolinario Serrano, build a community center in the indigenous community of Cacao, Nicaragua, pay the salaries for two teachers in Las Delicias, El Salvador, support organic farming, fund a School for Human Rights, and provide vitamins to pregnant women.
