About TILT

The Indy Learning Team creates an equal playing field for students and creates opportunity through access to literacy. The need is great with 60% of US 4th graders reading below proficient levels.

Our dedicated team provides high quality and structured literacy instruction with an easy point of entry. Learning to read is a years long process, and with that in mind one of our metrics for success is length of time students participate in our program. This proactive, consistent approach provides hope and opportunity for students.  For many students, it is the only opportunity to achieve high levels of literacy.

TILT Results

As The Indy Learning Team enters our 10th year, we are revolutionizing access to literacy with the release of TILT Tech with Adira Reads generative AI tool. This tool addresses what Havard calls the "stable level of mediocrity" in literacy scores.

Revolutionizing is a bold statement and TILT is taking bold actions to support it. Over the last year TILT has:

• Doubled the number of students we support to over 1,800
• Expanded the Communi-Tea Bookclub in partnership with Tamika Catchings and Catch the Stars Foundation to give away 4,000 new books this year
• Provided over 3,000 hours of 1:1 Intervention with Reading Specialists
• Read hundreds of books through storytimes with Professor Watermelon and books curated by Librarian Molly
• Launched TILT Tech with Adira Reads which provides the structure to close the literacy 

Reaching our goal of providing access to literacy for all requires investment in scaling our systems and team. TILT Tech with Adira Reads allows us to serve hundreds of students at a fraction of the cost of 1:1 Intervention. 

TILT is preparing to support significantly more students over the next 2 years.
