$0 Raised
Founded in 2003, HAND is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the housing needs of low- and moderate-income individuals and families in the northern suburbs of Indianapolis, including Hamilton, Boone, and Tipton counties. HAND’s mission is to provide quality affordable housing and advocate for diverse housing options where everyone can thrive.
HAND develops, owns, and manages affordable rental properties, with 11 communities totaling more than 155 apartments. In partnership with local governments, businesses, and other organizations, HAND works to create inclusive communities by offering housing that accommodates various stages of life. The organization is also actively involved in public education and advocacy around the importance of attainable housing for fostering strong, vibrant communities.
HAND is the only state-designated Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) in Hamilton County. Guided by its values of quality, collaboration, respect, equity, and stewardship, HAND strives to cultivate relationships that move the community forward while ensuring responsible use of resources. Its projects prioritize energy efficiency, universal design principles, and sustainability.
In addition to building and managing housing, HAND engages with local leaders, residents, and advocates through various events and initiatives, including its annual Suburban Housing Conference, Trivia Night and participation in local community events. HAND is also the convener of the Hamilton County Housing Collaborative. Through these efforts, HAND continues to push for housing solutions that address the region’s growing need for affordable and diverse living options.
